ABOUT

Dani Pele Marks
I read Gerrard, Rooney, Ferdinand, Roy Keane, Patrick Vieira, Gary Neville, Zlatan, Paul McGrath and Bryan Robson. Ryan Giggs and David Beckham. These figures were my idols. They were everything that I wanted to be - a world-class Premier League player. Their stories were unbelievable, but I could almost never relate. The truth of the matter was that I could never relate to any footballer who has written an autobiography. If they had a published book that I was aware of, odds are that they were very successful footballers. I was never very successful, but it's all that I ever wanted.
If my son asked me what I could teach him to help him achieve his dream of being a world-class plater. I would not send him to read the successful autobiographies. There was no point telling him to work hard or to improve his let foot. Everyone already knows all of that. So I asked myself for months and months, while my wife was carrying our son in her belly, what advice would I give my son? What is worth knowing? What is helpful? And what is relevant to a regular young boy with a simple dream of playing for a Manchester United.
This blog is what I would tell my son.
